Time to start making bears again

I have had a few weeks break since the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair and have tidied my sewing room. Now I am ready to start making again but it is such a nice autumn day outside I really don't want to sit inside.

Last night I started to design a new workshop bear for my upcoming workshops at Winter Wonderland in June and at Warwick Patchwork in July.

More photos to follow.

Please also have a look at my current eBay auction – Jonathon. He is gorgeous big boy bear.

Enjoy your weekend. Here in Queensland we are having another long weekend for Labour Day.

Sydney Teddy Bear Fair 2008

I had a great time at the show. Melissa did an excellent job in organising the event.

I sold a few bears but still have a few left. I actually managed to complete over 15 bears for the show.

I have uploaded a photo album with more photos.

My road trip April 2008

About 10 days ago we packed the car and headed down the Pacific Highway towards Sydney.

On the first night we stayed in Nambucca Heads. It is a beautiful seaside town about 5 hours drive south of Brisbane.

For the next few days we stayed on a houseboat on the Hawkesbury River. The Hawkesbury River is about 50 klms north of Sydney.

We had booked with Ripples House boats and stayed for 4 nights. It was so peaceful. We just cruised around, threw in a line or two and I did some sewing.

We then headed to the mountains - The Blue Mountains. The children wanted to go to the Jenolan Caves. We stayed in most delightful house in Leura named Leura Camillas. We did enjoy the cold weather for 2 nights and actually saw real autumn leaves. That is something we never see in Queensland.

We went to see the 3 Sisters and the falls before heading back down the mountains to Sydney for the Sydney Teddy bear Fair at Homebush Bay.

We did have a one stop on the way to Homebush Bay at Rick Rutherford's Country shop. It was an absolute haven. I just wish that I had more room in my car. www.rickrutherford.com

Wow! The weekend is over again!

I am starting to get a little worried. It is one week until we head off on our road trip to Sydney for the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair.

On Saturday morning, I had two fully completed bears and four needing noses and to be dressed. I also have five I am not happy with and about ten more that I want to make! I have so many ideas but not enough time to do it in.

My work room on Saturday AM

AND tonight Sunday I have now six completed and five I am not happy with and about six more I started.

We have also had a huge weekend. Yesterday was spent driving the children around and making bears. This morning I hosted an Enjo demonstration and this afternoon hosted the families from my son's footy team for a pool party and drinks on the deck. One consolation about today my garden and house are tidy!

My work room on Sunday PM.

I know that it doesn't look light much work has been completed but I also run out stuffing!!!!! I have ordered some more and it should be here on Tuesday.

Ps Please vote for my entries in the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair competition. http://fs10.formsite.com/cjsmum/form125013541/index.html Voting closes next weekend and thank you!!!!!

What I have been working on!

Finally a photo of what I was working on last weekend. The panda is still in the design phase. On Monday when I was tidying up, I was distracted by some red mohair and now I have started a few little red teds.

They look funny without their noses and ears!!

I do need to dress the 2 little ones on the right and the one below will be listed on ebay tonight.

I am starting to find it difficult to name my bears but anyway I called this one Samuel but then realised that I had already called one Samuel.  So I renamed him MONTY.

A Happy and safe Easter to you all.

New bears under construction

I have spent most of the day trying to finish a few bears and thinking about a new panda to make. I managed to finish one little one – Annabella. She is now listed on eBay.

My Warwick weekend – Part 2

On Friday morning I left the farm and headed to Warwick- the city of the roses. It was such a beautiful day.

The workshop was held at Warwick Patchwork & Quilting. There was 7 great ladies ready to make a Camilla.

At times during the first day you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. I felt like I had not stopped talking all day.

Warwick Patchwork & Quilting is a gorgeous little shop in the main street in Warwick and it's really the city of roses. The main street in Warwick is full of them!!

The noise level increased on day 2 as their bears came to life. It was great just to listen to what each person was going to do with their creations.

Thank you ladies! I had a lovely weekend and I will be back soon. (And they all wore pink just for me!)

Cheers Lisa

P S Thank you Sue for asking me to come and for hosting the workshop.

My Warwick weekend – Part 1

I had a great weekend. It felt like I was away for much longer. I left Brisbane on Thursday to stay a night at my parent's farm. www.hillviewgg.com before heading to Warwick.

I met mum in Toowoomba for lunch and then we headed out to the farm. As I drove in I was greeted by their 2 dogs Reggie and Massey. These boys are such characters.

It was so quiet up there and then I just wandered around the garden with the horses and dogs.

We then sat on the verandah for a few hours before dinner.

Mum had the most gorgeous geranium growing on the verandah. I can't wait until it gets a little bigger and I can take a cutting.

We had a thunderstorm in the afternoon but it produced very little rain.

Inside the house, Mum had cut a bunch of pink roses from the garden just for me and the smell was just divine.

It was nice to see the farm looking so green.

Cheers Lisa
