Winter Wonderland Day 2

Day 2 was a little slower but that is usual for a 2 day Doll & Bear show. I had time to check out the bear making section of the competition.

There were quite a few entries. Three entries stood out as I knew them. The first one below is by Therese and the second by Michelle.

And this one was by Susan Mitchell of Blue Valley Bears who won the Original Bear of the Show.

I had a little time to put the finishing details on a few more bears and again chatted to lots of people.

On both days there were a few hubbies accompanying their wives to the show. One delightful man from northern NSW said he was earning 'Bunning's points'. That was the best response I have heard for years. For those is Australia this will make sense but for those readers that are over overseas, Bunnings is a hardware shop that has everything plus more. I love shopping in Bunnings as well.

Have a great week.

Ps Two of the little bears that I finished yesterday I have listed on eBay. Hopefully if you click on the photo you will be taken to the listing.

Jasper and Evelyn Sue (I found names for them).

Winter Wonderland 2009- Day 1

This morning I definitely knew that winter had arrived in sunny Queensland. It hasn't been this cold for years.

Today, I had a great day at Queensland biggest Doll & Bear show. I have been trading at the show every June for years (I should find out exactly how many) and every year I see customers and traders that I only see at the show. My son Robbie came and helped me for the day. He is now 11 and there were a few comments like I can remember when you were born! Thanks Robbie for all your help.

Lorraine Davey form Balgowlah Bears came up from Sydney. She showed me her latest creation. It was the most amazing fox.

The ladies from the Brisbane Teddy Bear Shop were all smiles. They asked me to let you know that they have moved to 245 Given Terrace Paddington QLD. Please pop in and check out the new shop.

I had a great chat to Pam Campbell from Campbell Bears. It has been a few years since we have traded at the same show so we had lots to catch up on.

I did manage to take a few photos of my table. The above girls looked so cute sitting together.

The above 3 little bears were finished this afternoon at the show today. The actual bears were finished before the show but not their outfits. They are still to be named. I am getting to the stage where I find I am duplicating the names of my bears. I have a list of my favourite names and sometimes think I use them too much.

This big girl is also to be named. I will have to find my baby name book!

My table – it look so neat in the photos.

Time to turn the heaters on and to organise what is for dinner.

New stitchery designs

A few weeks ago I had a really nice day just drawing. I drew 6 new designs but before I could start stitching the new designs I had 2 other samples to finish.

I am not sure what I will make with these but I should have the designs available soon as a stitchery pattern.

Workshop details

The workshop will be held at this year's Winter Wonderland Doll and Bear Show on Friday June 12 2009. The bears name is Simone (and I will be designing an outfit for her). A kit and pattern will be supplied as part of the workshop.

Due to the time available for the workshop we will only be making Simone's head but you will be supplied with sufficient mohair to finish her at home.

Please contact Liz to book your place.

Tonight, I have just finished a new workshop sample. Full details of the workshop will be available in the next few days.

I hope all the mum's I know had a great Mother's day. I did and as a friend said 'Hope you are being spoilt silly!' – I was.

Just playing

It is has been really nice just to stay at home for a few days and 'play' with fabric.

I have had a layer cake, a jelly roll and a few extra pieces from the Simplicity range by 3 Sisters sitting in a box for ages. They are now all over my sewing table. When I bought the fabric I originally intended to make a few things for the lounge room:

A quilt for the sofa,

a couple of matching table runners,

and a few cushions.

So far I have made a few different blocks.

And I will keep playing over the next few weeks.

Have a great week! I am back to work on Tuesday.

I have finally finished

On Friday, I finally finished the backing for my sister Suzy's quilt. I only needed a few hours to complete it. Tomorrow it will be in the post to Rebecca from Homestead Quilting to work her magic.

On Saturday we headed to Toowoomba for a family reunion for my mother's side of the family. The reunion was at my parent's farm – Hillview. It was great to catch up with everyone. We camped out in our camper trailer for the night and came home late yesterday. Today I will be washing and hopefully I will find a little time to play with some fabric and make something for me.

Happy holidays & three more bears for sale

I have just added another 3 bears for sale in my PayPal store. I was trying to remember the last time I had so many bears for sale.

All three I made for the Sydney show but they didn't sell.

Have a safe and happy Easter!

Bears for sale

Today I have spent a few hours trying to update my PayPal widget. I have added two (2) little bears and a few more patterns to my PayPal store. I have also listed two (2) more little bears on eBay. It seemed to take forever to do anything today.

Courtney Rose & Zara Jayne are both listed in Paypal store.

Leonie Sue is on Australian eBay.

Talia Anne is on US eBay.

All of these little bears were made for the TBACA show.

We have had rain for the last 2 days and the garden (I should really say 'the weeds') are just going wild. Unfortunately it has caused minor flooding in some areas of south east Queensland. Over the Easter break I hope to get some gardening (weeding) done.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs Lisa
